drooping heads

United Kingdom

This is the first time I have had a Calla Lily and siunce I've had them they have drooped heads. When I looked at them tonight I noticed that inside the bloom is a green bulbous, bobbly thing that is weighing them down. Can someone please enlighten me.

On plant Calla

this is the female ovary that is swelling as the plant has been successfully pollinated and the ovules [eggs] have been fertilized. Leave it alone and it will ripen and you will get seed from it.

No they are quite easy to do. wait until the pods are ripe and split. collect the seed and then sow in a quality compost.
