You are right it is a menace. My garden was a jungle of this stuff when i moved in. I have dug a few beds and pulled out roots but a week later you see the little shoots coming back again. Ground Elder then i will look into it. Thanks a million.

Unfortunately you will have to use the weedkiller. If you pull it out, bits of roots are left behind and just start to grow again. I sprayed my "crop" last week and now it is brown. Alas I find it comes back every year.

we have ground elder in our herbacious border, and have been battling it for a couple of years. every time we spot a new leaf , it's pulled off. this weakens the weed , as it get's it's nourishment from the sun via the leaves. it will always be there , but it has kept it under control .

The leaves of ground elder are edible. Just cook them like spinach and they are delicious. Who knows, you might grow to love it.

Spent many years trying to rid my garden of ground elder. Digging and then spraying with RoundUp when young leaves reappeared worked to a degree. Then by chance in one of the areas I had cleared I planted a few Geranium macrorrizhum Ingwersen's variety. It clumped up quickly and the young ground elder shoots were smothered and never reappeared. I repeated this all over my garden with other geraniums in areas where I had ground elder and it worked but the ground-covering varieties of the macrorrizhum variety ,especially Ingwersens, work best and means I now have virtually no ground elder.

I think that you have Ground Elder. if so, it is an absolute menace as Peter will tell you. You will have to use a weedkiller with Glyphosate in it, I am afraid, . and probably more than once. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
