Out gladitsia tree is 9 years old and is really beutiful but it has suddenly died. It was quite wet this Winter. Could that be the reason.

It may revive unaided. Nature is a very powerful thing.
I would leave it until next summer to decide whether to remove it.

Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it and am pretty sure it was due to very wet winter especially as you say they lie well drained soil.

after a bit of research i found that these trees are usually disease free, they need well drained soil, so the wet winter could have killed the tree off but if it is just the leaves it could be gall midge, here are the links to help,
