What are these flowers?

Hello,
These flowers have started to bloom and the blooms are attached to spires. Any idea what they might be? I hope you all are starting to get some nice weather and new blooms.

They look like Ajuga to me - the angle of the photo from above is a bit confusing - but if they are, it's a good spreading plant and doesn't mind some shade! You can use it for ground cover.
