I received this pant chamaecyparis lawsoniana ellwoodii in January of last year. I kept it indoors till the spring and transplant it to a bigger pot and is growing beautiful. My question is, can I leave it outdoors for the winter?

I have one growing in my garden in Scotland. It is hardy. This would be a good time to plant it outside in the ground because in a pot if the soil in the pot freezes it could kill the roots which the plant needs to absorb water. Maybe someone else will be more helpful if you could say where you are in the USA.
