Star Jasmine - to cut or not to cut !

I have an old star jasmine which is straggly and, although it has many flowers there aren´t many at a time. Can I cut it´s trunk down low and let it restart again? If so, when.

Thanks for that info Spindle. This one is very old and outside. I don´t really want to kill it, and it is flowering, but I have to say it hasn´t been very stunning this year. Welcome to GoY Gwen

Hi Gwenvokes. I had a jasmine indoors which I thought I had killed. So I cut it down, planted it outside, and it miraculously is growing back brilliantly. My jasmine though was 'clotted cream', and I pruned back in May time. Hope helps
