More acid is an advantage in some parts of the U.S., Spritz! Mulch from black walnut trees can interfere with the growth of many other plants, though.

If you use as a mulch, then add a high nitrogen feed in spring and summer to supplement that lost by the mulch decomposing.

I'd look out for coral spot too on the untreated bark mulch

Yes, as long as the mulch doesn't contain pine needles. These can make your soil more acidic, so you just need to be aware of that.
