Does anyone have any advise on training a fuschia into an upright shape? I just got a small start and I want to do it right.

Some Fuchsias are naturally upright and some are naturally pendulous. It isn't very easy to get the pendulous ones to grow into upright bushes - it isn't in their nature to do so.
However, you can get them all to grow into standards. You just tie a small plant to a cane and take off all the side shoots as they develope, until the Fuchsia has reached the hight you want. Then you nip out the top shoot and let the side ones develop into a head.
