Why has my Gunnera leaves developed a number of brown marks?

I have it in a large pot which I water regularly and there are signs of new growth, but each new leaf shows similar infestations. Please can anyone help me as I do not want to lose it????

Mine had this last year and was in a pot. I put it down to periods when it may be close to drying out. The sudden up rush of water bursts the cells, oedema i think is the name.
Or it maybe it has been scorched by the sun esp. the more delicate younger leaves, prickly and hard as they are! The water sits on the leaves and can be scorched by then sun.
Ive planted mine this years and have suffered no more, but it was desparate to get out of its pot, even thou pot was a 90 litre!
