Do you have to cut lobelias back in winter

Warwickshire, United Kingdom

I have some lobelias which are five feet high, and are comming to the end of the flowering period, do I have to cut them back or leave them alone.

Just dead head them and then leave them to die down naturally.
Protect any new shoots in spring form slugs and snails.

i often yeave them alone as when frosted they can look 'sculptural' i then cut down in spring and watch out for slugs as N.08 says.
