Why does my sedum Autumn Joy loll over on its elbows.

It was planted two years ago, west facing border. It has flattened everything around it. Ive seen pics of other members plants all forming lovely mounds. sorry no photo as camera dropped on concrete by youngest daughter

the one i grow in full sun stays upright the one in semi shade lols over just as you describe. next year put small peasticks in and around them to support them. oops about the camera.

I know exactly what you mean....my ones - are in the sunshine and are flat on their backs.....sprawling all over the place. I guess I too will have to prop 'em up next time round.....grrr!

Two other things - don't feed them as this makes them grow 'soft' and straggly. Also, you can divide them in spring as big clumps splay outwards. Dig the clump up and chop it up - you can be really vicious with it and just replant a small chunk and it will grow happily and flower by autumn

my nabour has sedum it is a light pink and gets very little water, it has shade in the morning and sun in the afternoon, ok now hear is a funny thing I have some that is shocking pink to red it gets sun in the morning and shade in the after noon and gets a lot of water, but it is standing up like a guards man, any answers.

Thanks all. I shall try dividing it next spring and putting some support around it. I dont think its too much water as I have just dug out an old shrub and 12 inches down was as dry as a dustbowl. I will also be sparing with the plant grub next spring
