how deep should I plant my Acidantheras in spring

I planted them in pots this year about 3 inches deep. I had very few blooms and wonder did I not have them deep enough.

I think that a general rule of thumb with bulbs is to plant them twice as deep as the bulb is tall.

Cestvalere is right, that is the rule of thumb, but it should have said on the packet how deep you should plant them.

I bought some bulbs in a package & it says to plant them 4" deep.
