Hi,
It could be a Mahonia, but difficult to say with no picture! You could 'google image' it to see if you've got a match.

Sounds as if the leaves are to big for Pyracantha such as 'Orange Glow' which was my first thought.

My first thought was a Mahonia of some kind too, Junglejen, but the orange berries are a bit of an anomaly. Peeps, Mahonia usually has yellow flowers followed by blue black berries, if it makes berries at all. As JJ says, a photo would be very useful;-)

Yes, I have racked my proverbial but to no avail either hence no response. I also wondered if the poster was confusing flower buds with berries?

Possible, but wouldn't they be yellow, not orange? We need a response from Peeps...
