What is the best method to protect tender plants from frost?

I bought the plant in summer. It stated that it needed protection from frost. How should I do this? Its an Isotoma rose and is planted in the ground near a south facing fence. I live on the North East coast of England. Thank you Moon grower and Bulbaholic
