Peony makes single flower

I had a peony which made a splendid display. It was dragged out of the ground and replanted. I tought it was dead. After two years it made a single flower and has donso e each year for seven years.
Can I make it produce multiple flowers again?

Maybe you planted it too deeply? They don't like that. Is it healthy otherwise?
