I saw this "lawn" in a park in circular patches amidst regular lawn. Does anyone know what it is?

Hi Fractal cat, it was the middle of summer in a local park in west yorkshire. I'd like to use this as a lawn in my back yard if feasible.

Names has gone for the moment but it looks like a New Zealand plant. Very invasive. We had it growing into the lawn in our first house.
Pratia, that's the one.

Pratia seems very bushy and tall from the pics i've seen? Can it be mowed down into a tight flat lawn? Or is it grown into an existing lawn?

Pratia pedunculata is a definite inch high creeper, or at least it was in my old garden. Cannot say I have ever seen a tall bushy form. Children played all over it without managing to kill it either.

Owdboggy, I think i was looking at pratia angulata.
Good to know it's hardwearing as I defo need something that will cope well will 3 kids running all over it. Can I plant it into an existing lawn? I just moved into a new house and after getting rid of the metre high weeds, the lawn is pretty patchy. Could I grow pratia pedunculata straight onto the existing lawn?

Sorry, no idea, it spread from the rock garden into the grass for us and then died out on the rocks.
