Who knows Heron.
These one line questions have been coming all evening and they all sound like examination questions.

Considering that it originates from South Africa it's as tough as old boots and will stand cutting down to the base. I tend to do as with roses, shorten now then again in early Spring.

The Butterfly tree comes from South America and gets it's name from it's shape. when it gets to 4' tall it separates into two large wing-like sections that flap in the wind. It's thought that this aids the cooling of the tree in hot weather.

if it is buddleia best leave it just as it is until the new leaves start to come then cut it down to four buds from the ground or four inches and stand back it will grow even bigger befor it flowers.
