Butchery on a parasol pine...
A neighbour has just hacked down a parasol pine to about 6ft high. It now has a main trunk and 3 or 4 subsidiary ones, each terminating in more truncated branches; it looks like a werd sculpture as it's so regular; a kind of hat stand, with absolutely no needle bearing twigs. I can't imagine it'll revive; any thoughts? Crazily this philistine has now gone in for the TV plant a tree campaign and is busy putting 6" saplings in elsewhere.
I wanted to update the question with a pic of the wretched tree, but it's now loaded on my profile; I hope no-one thinks I was responsible!!!

My local council did this to the trees in our local shopping precincts and they have grown back but its taken a couple of years. Not a pretty sight is it...
