What sort of orchid is it? If it's a Moth Orchid (Phalaenopsis) or most of the other common ones, then you need to buy special orchid compost - it's mostly bark - and a new pot one size up. Take your Orchid out of its compost, shake it off, replace in new pot with new compost and stick supports and off it goes again! Have you got Orchid fertiliser? If not, buy a pot at the same time as your other purchases. (Don't be tempted by the very expensive and wasteful little tubes of liquid that you cut the ends off and stick in the pot!)
