I purchased a golden barrel cactus in Phoenix on 12/2/09. It was transplanted, watered and shipped UPS, arriving in cold weather on 12/10. It was packed in peanuts to prevent freezing.
On 12/21/09 I noticed 11 of the 16 vertical ribs were starting to turn lime green and shriveling. It has gotten worse and the ribs look as though they have lost water.
What may have caused this and will it survive?
