Can i prune a pyracantha bust right back to large trunks

I have a pyracantha that I keep very hard pruned back, and it thrives. It doesn't produce berries, though, and I know that's because I constantly cut it back. I'm sure yours would survive a hard prune.

well I have hacked one back to 2ft and it resprouted all along them stem. perhaps I was lucky. see what others think.
