Hello, I've got a mature wisteria that has grown around a wooden arch. the arch is now lopsided as the wisteria has entangled itself around it. I need to take action. is it possible to cut the wisteria back to say 12 inches above ground, then I could remove the arch and erect another structure for it to climb up? If so, what's the best time of year to do this? I can add a photo later
Many thanks

I'd do it now before new growth then you can get the supports in place. Any subsequent growth will then go where you train it.
