how deep are roots on 7ft cordyline australis

I don't recall them being too deep. Being monocots (lilies, grasses orchids etc), they are relatively thick but don't branch very much and form a dense collar of roots radiating out from the stem. If you have ever lifted a Hosta, they are just like a scaled up version of these.
