Do the tree lilies need to prune after flowering

If you're talking about very tall specie lilies, such as the martagon group for example, then no - let them die back naturally, so that the nutrients from the leaves goes back into the bulbs ready for the next year. The stems can be pulled off once theyr'e brown - but mark the spot where they're planted so you don't accidentally dig them up!

I wouldn't have said the martagon lilies were that tall - wonder what guest is really asking about???

T & M and Parkers are selling a large lily that they are calling tree lillies. I think they are a species from the himylaias [spelling?]
they are an herbacaecous lily and treat as spritzhenry says.

I think I was comparing them with the orientals that I grow in pots, Mg. They're at least a foot taller if not more!

Ah well Barbara - doubt this is what Guest is asking in any case... They certainly are taller than pot grown lilies but the imperialise has them beat!

I think that Sbg probably has it - these catalogues and adverts have a lot to answer for! Where are the latin names? Very unhelpful!
