Runner Beans of any variety up 6 foot canes, would be easy in large pots, as long as the patio is not windy. Spray the flowers with Dettol 1 teasp to 1 pint of water, the birds dont like the smell so it stops them knocking the flowers off to get at the Blackfly they enjoy eating.
This means she will get beans 3 weeks earlier.
She should get a good crop as it will be warm there.

I also grow broad beans and dwarf french beans in pots. Not really noticed the variety but successful. I have grown the shorter stubby carrots but I cant remember the variety.

Make sure they are big pots or containers Kidsgran. Any of the salad leaves, radishes and spring onions will do fine. Tomato plants too if the container is big enough.

Here is a link to a good site which tells you of different varieties and also the size of container suited to growing your chosen veg.

As most pots will not use all of the seeds in a packet maybe another member will tell you how long you can keep seeds before they become too old to be worth keeping.
