I have a Red Robin tree in my garden which is a few years old, I pruned it last September. The tree has lost a lot of leaves over the winter and the ones that remain don't look healthy, is there anything I can do as I would like to keep the tree.

Pruning it in September might have caused trouble - these plants are slightly sensitive to cold and wind, although they're hardy, and pruning in September may have forced new growth by late October, which then is very vulnerable to winter conditions.
Just wait till it starts showing signs of growth, or till April when the weather warms up, and then give it a good cut back and a good feed to encourage more growth. Hopefully, it will recover nicely. This answer assumes its in the ground and not in a pot though.
