here is another picture of my transplanted too early Schizanthus seedlings which are looking rather leggy but which are now growing their 2nd pair of leaves (just)...do I prick them out or just leave them? thankyou

leave them alone for at least a couple of weeks then ask us again. I usually wait until they are quite substantial 4-6 leaves.

I agree with SBG

They are well spaced as it is. I would leave them until they are quite a lot bigger.

Hi Kate, I think if you put a little more compost in your trays, both when you sow the seed, and when you prick out, your seedlings would not be as leggy, as they would be nearer the light when they emerge and not be looking for light, which with that amount of compost, is only available at the top of the pot, also they would be able to develop a better root system, hence healthier plants, if you aim to have a gapof about 1/4" between the top of your compost, and the top of the tray, after it has been watered and settled, that is sufficient gap for watering purposes, hope this helps, Derek.
