I want to attempt to increase my delphiniums, but the new seasons growth is only just appearing. How big should the leaf growth be and how do I remove them please.

Hi Dajo, as Moongrower says you can divide delphiniums in march or april, but you can also take basal cuttings when the new shoots reach 3 to 4" in length taken from as close to the root stock as possible, once rooted plant them out in a nursery bed, and plant in their permanent positions in september, Derek.

Hi Dajo and welcome to GoY. You increase delphiniums by splitting them when they have become large plants not by leaf cultivation.
