Great thanks. Actually I know realise that it has a very similar stem to a much bigger elderberry that I have in another part of the garden but that one has dark brown leaves rather than green ones.

Its rather near the fence - they do tend to send up stems from near the base and it might do damage when it gets bigger.

Agree its Elder, looks like a self set one, they have a tendency to pop up all on their own in difficult places.

I have one that KEEPs popping up under my massive stone-slab front-door step: there is an old tradition here that says farmers sometimes planted them near outlying animal shelters, to keep the witches away... My children, dear folk (!) - are of the opinion that this one was set there to keep the Witch In, not Out...
Still they make nice elderflower champagne, and the berries make a good sauce later (that's if I can fight my way out by then, to pick them!)
