I've had this for years( although you wouldn't think so). I've rescued it from different positions in the garden and now after I've brought it back to life am trying to plant it again. But 2 things - I've forgotten what it's called and which direction would you plant it. Thank you
Hope this helps Steregram. I remember its a Japanese sounding name if that helps.

It certainly doesn't look happy - is it in a pot, difficult to tell as photo seems to be on its side! This particular salix is usually grafted onto the straight stem of another salix as it has weak and shrubby growth. I'm trying to work out if your has been grafted or not. It will grow fine in full sun to part shade and can be grown in a container, provided it is large enough.

it doesn't like to dry out, so plant in a spot where it won't bake. I wasn't sure whether it was Acer negundo 'Flamingo' or the Salix you mention.

Are the leaves really pale like that or is just how it came out on the photo? Can you put on a close up of one of the stems?
