Hopefully I have attached a photo of the top of our plum tree. It is 2/3 years old and the top of it seems to have died. I think we cut the top last year, but now it seems dead for about 2 foot down. The rest seems to be growing well and we have blossom on it. What would be the best way to treat it this year, leave alone or cut the dead part off. Hope someone can help - Thank you

I,d also cut the dead out, plum trees are cut back after they have finished fruiting, unlike apple which you cut back when dormant.

Cut the dead off, but wait till nearer the end of May if you can bear to, less risk of silverleaf.
