Pieris help.
I bought a pieris last season and was wondering if I have to prune it.
Its now got its lovely top red leaves, I'm not sure what to do.

If you only bought last year unlikely to need pruning, when it does - and it will - prune after flowering. Ours is going to get seriously chopped this year as getting too big for its boots.

Thanks girls. I will let it be till it needs the chop. I must tell how strange it is this year. Last year the new leaves were red, this time they are pink, but it looks great. How odd is that :-)

Our bracts are still looking more pink than red, they'll redden up and then go green.

Everything weird this year. :0(
my pieris is in a pot and stays small, saw a huge one in a sheltered spot in SW Scotland the other day and it looked magnificent.

Don't do anything, just enjoy it's lovely leaves. I never prune mine and they are fine.
