this is not a question -I just want to say thanks to all who replied to mine.
Actually yes I do have a question - - - in relation to the answers I received, is it possible to over water a plant [baby tree] ? this is what I am affraid of doing

I would agree with Pamg, mother nature doesn't care how much water she puts on them!, whether you have good drainage or poor, Derek.

The reason overwatering can kill is that the roots can't get enough oxygen so they drown. So as long as there is still some air in the compost after an hour or so you should be OK.
