What is this plant called only I found loads of seeds in a long pod and planted them in my greenhouse and they are all comming up nicely

but I don't remember their seed pods being long and thin. I wonder if they are a crocosmia. My Lucifer starts with crinkly leaves like the leaves in the first photo.

Look like crocosmia. I have similar growth all around where I planted one a couple of years ago.

The pods are bulbs, they produce new ones on top of the old one each year. They multiply at a rate of knots, are not too fussy about growing conditions and require little attention so earn their keep.

I just realised this when I got up this morning and now I feel silly. (I've just grown lots of tigridias and they look just like the pic. sorry!)

my tigridia are just coming up and they do have this folded pleated look too, so no need to feel silly.

Looks like Tigridia. A bulb with flowers a bit like iris but shades of orange and yellow. They will need growing on for about three years before they flower, and they need protecting in winter, rather like dahlias. I left some planted up in a pot over winter in a sheltered spot but further north you would need to give them some protection. Best to keep them dry while dormant.
