LILAC........I have a lilac tree that is about 10 - 12 feet tall and about as wide and I would like to cut it back a little. Not much about 2 feet or so in height and width. When is the best time to prune a lilac....indeed can you prune them? It is a lovely white and the scent if glorious.

You can indeed prune Lilac and the best time is after they have finished flowering.

And you don't have to be gentle with - lilac can take a hard prune and come back without any problems.
