This plant has appeared in my garden and I cannot remember planting anything where it is growing, have no idea what it is. Can anyone id it for me please?

Don't think it is that as the stalk is growing centrally through six leaves which are like a ruff and Rosebay is a single leaf on the stem. Thanks for the information though Moongrower.

Hum... yes you are right yet I still, somehow, think this is one of the willow herbs - and I am not the oracle some folk like to think I am :-)

Thanks Seaburngirl, not sure, have been trying to get a picture of veronicastrum leaves without flowers but all I can find are the flowers and not really a comparison, but found one with flowers and leaves and it does look like it could be. I shall just have to be patient and see what the flower is like. I hope it is veronicastrum I like that a lot. lol :O) thanks again for trying to help. :O)

Seaburngirl, you were spot on, have seen it at a garden today and it is definitely veronicastrum in fact think it is VERONICASTRUM. SCROPHULARIACEAE it has now developed a pink flower spike and is beginning to look v.pretty. Thanks for your help in answering my query. :O)

Looks like a young Rosebay Willow Herb to me and if it is I would be uprooting it now!
