fruit tree.pear and apple tree leaf drying and curling in shape of a cone i have seen small green catterpillars on some other leaves are these causing damage or is it coincidence the trees were planted this year and in blossom

There are caterpillars which bite the veins on leaves so that they curl up to protect the vermin from predation. Unroll a leaf and look inside. Not easy to deal with as spray does not always get inside the roll. If not many the remove the affected leaves. Otherwise you will have to very carefully spray with a suitable insecticide designed for edible plants.
