you will get different shades of 'darkness' as they dont always come 100% true. They will grow well in light shade but dont put them in too dark a site as they will loose some of their darkness.

thanks seaburn. have you grown them from seed? the packet says they need stratification, but i was wondering if they will grow if just planted in compost indoors

I think they need the frsot to break their dormancy. pop the pot of seeds/compost in a poly bag in the fridge for a couple of weeks then bring them out and proceed as normal.
