I have two courgette plants, getting loads of flower buds but only one courgette on each plant. Why? Variety is Black Beauty. Other flower buds on thin stem.

I'm with Worthy! Courgettes plants take a little while to cotton onto the fact that they are supposed to produce fruits. Ours had unproductive flowers on for about a week, then grew some rather unappetising malformed things, which went soggy, then suddenly got into their stride and now are producing LOADS every day. Patience!

I read once that you can dip the flowers in batter and deep fry - courgette flower fritters!

It's a very common dish here, Steragram, but you are supposed to put a stuffing of ricotta and other bits and bobs inside the flower (sold in packs of six at exorbitant prices) before battering and deep frying them - it's a bit of a faff, if you ask me - the courgettes themselves are delicious and much less complicated to cook!

That makes sense Gattina, and it certainly does sound like a lot of work for not very much. But you could do it with the male flowers before the females start bearing, if you have nothing better to do!

I wish! Maybe I could get the servants to do it for me! ;o)

Make flowers (those on stems) are produced first, so give it time
