I have noticed a frond like growth on the stems of three of my rose bushes - should I remove them- they are the same colour as the plant foliage and after removing one it smells exactly the same as the parent plant. you are spot on also known as diplolepis rosae - thank you very much

I wonder if they are galls called Robin's pincushion. It is a harmless response to an insect pest. Moatrat says they are the same colour as the foliage and this would fit the description. Google the image for them and then let us know.

They used to fascinate me when I was little, still do, really. Just weird. Still, we need that picture

There is a briar rose in the grounds at work that regularly gets them. Most weird things still fascinate me.
