Every other week or so, these horrible patches appear in my yard. This week, in addition to the yucky cream patch, we now have these yellow patches of what I think is fungus. Can you please help to identify what the w patches are and possibly provide me treatment recommendations?

It's a slime mould which has formed on the woodchip. It's called fuligo candida, quite harmless, and will break down and dry up. Wash it off with the hose. The various fungus and moulds perform a major role in converting old organic matter to useful compost.

they are indeed slime moulds and are fascinating. I watched one produce its spores it was like watching a spray of builders insulating foam going off. it dried like it too.
