Red and squishy Blackcurrants!
Hi there. Of late it has, as you in England may have noticed, been very hot for the majority of the day.
This may or may not be the cause of the problems I'm having with my Blackcurrants, and also possibly my small Gooseberry bush.
A lot (maybe 1/3 so far) of my currants, instead of ripening normally, have simply gone red/pink and squishy, and a lot have fallen off, kinda like they're just rotting off the bush.
The Gooseberries similarly have gone paler than usual, and many have just fallen off.
I'm giving my whole garden a very good watering in the evenings once the sun has gone.
If anyone can offer any help/advice, this new gardener would appreciate it..

Thanks!

Couple of questions for clarification - how long have the blackcurrant and gooseberry plants been planted (assuming they're in the ground)? And when you say you're giving the whole garden a good water after the sun has gone, how are you doing that, i.e, with a hose and spray gun, with a sprinkler, watering can? I also assume you've checked the plants, including backs of leaves and stems, for signs of infestation or disease...
