Longitude is less important than latitude as Doctorbob says. Probably the most important longitudinal factor afecting the distribution of plants, in the wild, is the barrier formed by the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans.

The main control of growth for plants is light, air and water. latitude possibly has more control on climate zones, whereas longitude will be defined on the difference of distance from the equator. Is this an exam question?
