I need advice and details

In the ground? Prefers an open, generally sunny position, and happy on chalky soils (which will please some people!)
In a pot, same aspect, but don't forget the watering, and bear in mind it'll be short-term as it wants to be a small tree. You'll end up with a beautiful patio tree, and in a Japanese style pot it can look fantastic. Leaves colour gentle orange/red in autumn

Sorry about the delay in thanking you. Oshidori sound ideal for the patio. But I am having difficulty getting one. At the same time I would like a more tree like Flowering cherry. Can you recommend anything.
Many thanks for you help and advice.
