I planted my rhubarb last fall and it doesn't seem to be getting very big stalks. The leaves are also turning red around the edges. What is my problem

Not sure if Snoop is recommending that you do cover it or that you shouldn't have - you normally cover with a bucket in only early spring when you want to force some early stalks. You should not force any next Spring because your plant will still be establishing. Only take a few stalks from any one growing point at any one time when you do begin to pull it or you will weaken the plant. Are you giving it plenty of water? Rhubarb is a heavy feeder too.

if you have only recently planted it that is the 'problem' give it time. I would resist pulling any stalks this year. give it plenty of water and feed it. they are 'hungry' plants. I also wouldn't force it [cover with a bucket] for at least 2 years. let it get a good root stock then harvest it. if you cant wait [I would struggle to :o)] then only pull about 1/3 of the stalks.
