We adopted two retired racing greyhounds a while ago. Lovely affectionate animals, but their running around has destroyed our lawn. We have built two large paved areas - one immediately outside the entrance to the garden and one at the bottom, both the full width of the garden, but we still have an area in between them of around 11 mtrs wide x 6 mtrs long. We had thought of re-turfing this as my wife would prefer to have some lawn at least, but I'm mindfull that it is still likely to be cut up. Any ideas on breaking the surface area up?

My friend in North Wales rehomes greyhounds and had the same problem. Eventually, she replaced her lawn with astroturf...

Greyhounds need an extensive area of 'soft' ground to excercise on and I can only think of grass as being suitable. You could try a harder grass such as used on sportsfields but just giving them a hard area to play on is most unkind to the dogs.
