Strawberry plants.
I'm sure I'm correct in saying that strawberry plants should be replaced after three years.
I have been getting new plants from runners, but some of my three year old plants have multiple "crowns" to them. Can these plants be split to make new ones or should I get rid of ALL the three year old plants and simply rely on new plants from the runners?

It depends. As Strawberries age they produce less fruit and more runners. If kept well fed and pruned then they can last 6 years plus. Most people are over run with runners and new plants, so the older plants are normally discarded for space.
