My plum tree has cropped well this year but when it came to picking the plums I discovered that 90% of the plums had a maggot inside - when would this have happened and is there any way of preventing it next season?

At least your tree has fruited...not one fruit on my plum tree this year...3 year old tree...any ideas why??

This sounds like sawfly which lay their eggs in the fruit. What you need to do next season to prevent the same thing happening is to spray the tree with an insecticide. You need to do this about a week or so after the flowers have fallen.
