Please, what is this?
How to improve the size of the flower heads?
Can I take cuttings?

My previous agapanthus died over winter so I'm assuming these are not very hardy?

Some are hardier than others, but all will succumb to winter cold, especially if they are frozen through their pots. I bury mine in woodchip and cover them with about 2 inches of the same. The evergreen ones are more prone to winter damage (for the simple reason they are exposing themselves to the cold, if you'll pardon the expression). The deciduous ones are, therefore, easier to look after.

Much appreciated, thanks.

The key is to keep them dry overwinter. So a greenhouse is fine. Mine did well all winter till the late frosts in March/April and that zapped a lot of fresh growth. They take a long time from seed but divide grow of their own in the pot and they prefer being potbound.

I agree,I have had my deciduous ones about six years, but always overwinter them ,and keep them totally dry .I .also wrap the pot in fleece or bubble wrap, before it's put in a growhouse..

Hi, I have a deciduous 1 planted in the border, it's been there over 6 years, all through the 2 bad winters we had a few years ago, {minus 22c at times}, and it comes back bigger and better every year, there are 13 large flower heads on it this year, so this must be a particularly hardy 1, {don't know which variety}, Derek.

Agapanthus Save and sow seeds or split the bulbs up when they are really tight in the pot. Bigger flowers - more food.
