We have hydrangeas at the edge of the front garden. They are beautiful when flowering but over the years have grown so much that they are now blocking the view when we drive onto the road, this is a problem both for us and our neighbours! How can we cut them back considerably so they are not dangerous without spoiling them?

Thank you for your comment, yes,I believe they are the mophead variety. It doesn't sound like it's a quick solution if we don't want to lose the flowers for next year so it needs to be given some thought! Thanks once again.

You don't way what kind they are. If they are the mophead sort cutting them back will lose next year's flowers. So what you can do is to do it over two or three years , cutting some well back each time. You'll then still have flowers on the rest.
